In the days before art and science were separated, the first museums were known as wonder rooms. Owners of wonder rooms displayed items they found particularly interesting or beautiful, like paintings or objects found in nature. Most wonder rooms did not classify or organize their treasures. In the PASI 2009 exhibit, a wonder room is featured which exhibits multiple displays about the concepts of Supersymmetry and Extra Dimensions.

Supersymmetry inspired the large-scale Jacob's Ladder and some of the Feynman Diagrams. Extra Dimensions inspired the Tesseract and Magic Eye pictures, the Mirage box, and the "Lost in Translation" display.

The Wonder Room exhibit is inspired by Gary Nickard's Wunderkammer exhibition at Kenyon College, and has been created by the participants of PASI 2009, Kevin Cullinan and Tom Gruenauer, both of the
CAS Instrument Machine Shop.
